Shia LaBeouf commence sa carrière d'acteur à l'âge de dix ans. Un temps humoriste de stand-up, il devient surtout populaire auprès du jeune public avec la série télévisée diffusée sur Disney Channel, La Guerre des Stevens, également adaptée en trois téléfilms.

En 1999, il a un rôle dans un épisode de X-Files, intitulé Chance.
